#24
Truth and Reconciliation 2008-2015
The Truth and reconciliation Commission was created as a part of the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement (IRSSA). The main goal of the TRC was to look into the Residential School System, the history that led to that system, the injustices that occurred, and the effects it had on survivors. During the span of the investigation, they uncovered and retrieved close to 7,000 statements and some five million records. The records now are kept at the University of Manitoba in the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR).
A number of reports were issued in 2015 along with a document containing 94 Calls to Action. CBC is currently following the progress on their website, Beyond94
